Visa
Citizens of many European and American countries may come to Chile without requesting a visa beforehand. People from Belgium and Luxemburg as well. You will need a passport with at least a 6-month validity after your travel date, the tourist card handed out in the airplane, and to pay the reciprocity tax at the airport before going through customs.
For other countries, travellers will need to apply for a tourist visa before coming to Chile. Please check the location of the consulate closest to you at the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Relations website www.minrel.gov.cl
Visa procedures are usually simple and take about 7 business days. Chinese and other Asian citizens require more time for this process, you should plan on requesting your visa at least 2-3 months in advance. You will need to fill out a visa application form (obtained from the Chilean Embassy or Consulate), have a valid passport, proof of purchase of a round trip ticket, proof of financial resources (usually a copy of a credit card or your bank statements) and a passport size photo. In some cases you may also be required to present a letter of invitation from the Chilean side. Should this be the case, Gecamin Ltda. will write such letter, but we request that you contact us in advance, specifying your case.
If you need a visa, it is highly recommendable to start the application process as far ahead as possible to avoid any complications.
All visitors from the following countries must pay IN CASH the reciprocity tax before going through customs.
